Crystal Kehl, MA, LMHC

My professional background…

Both of my degrees were earned from The University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. My Master’s degree is in Mental Health Counseling, and I completed a certificate program in Integrative Counseling.

Since then, I have worked in a variety of environments including the crisis unit, wilderness therapy, equine-assisted therapy, elementary and middle schools, and in private practice.

My work has involved populations including teens, adults and children with severe mental health symptoms. I have worked with those struggling with trauma, substance abuse, thoughts of suicide, psychosis, homelessness, long term disability and traumatic brain injury.

I take pride in always being interested in learning new things and expanding my skill set. It is my belief that a good counselor is constantly evolving and developing new skills, so that I can meet each client where they are standing in that moment and help them rise.

My focus is on helping you explore and remove barriers.

My practice primarily focuses on helping teens and adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship problems.

Clients who experience the most benefits from counseling are those who are motivated for change and open to looking at their problems in a new light. If you have “tried everything” and still feel like you are not achieving results, I am confident that together we can look at things through a different lens and break through to some relief, and then growth!

I will shoot straight with you and help you explore the barriers holding you back from being the best version of yourself.

Your needs are my priority.

I truly love being a therapist and enjoy getting to know each and every one of my clients.

When someone invites me into their inner world and gives me the privilege to help enact positive changes, I am deeply humbled. I take this privilege very seriously, as the quality and depth of our relationship is the best indicator to successful therapy.

As your therapist, I consider it my duty to have unconditional, positive regard for you at all times. My priorities are to respect and validate your experience and ensure that your priorities are mine as well.

Therapy changed my life.

Firsthand experience made me want to be a counselor. I know what it’s like to feel lost and alone, and I know firsthand that therapy can be profoundly transformational.

In fact, before I studied counseling, I described therapy to be like *magic*, because of how it improved my life in ways I did not understand. Needless to say, I am passionate about helping others experience this magic!

Something fun about me…

I have a bumper sticker that says “I brake for interesting cloud formations…” It’s funny because it’s true!

It is my personal belief that the natural world holds the answers to so many of life’s mysteries. It is from nature we can learn the secrets to a happy, healthy life.

So get ready for some corny nature metaphors during your sessions. I have a ton of them!
